Hi,

Here is one that has me stumped.  Not too hard...lol

I am trying to install WordPress on my wife's site I setup using the basic version of EZAffiliate.  I created the database, added a user ect editied the config file saved it and uploaded the whole thing to a folder in public html called "blog"  I then try to run the install script at http://www.mappyhama.com/blog/wp-admin/install.php but what comes up is a messed up page - no color and formatting messed up with an ebay search results for install.  What am I doing wrong? an is there a way to make this work.

Chris

I do want to use Ebay search but it will not be the main part of the site.  It will be a blog where she can talk about things she likes and then have links to Ebay items (Searches) for the products, amazon links ect..

Do you want the blog to be the MAIN page?
If yes:
Install WP in the main domain and then run EZAWB install in a separate folder IE: products

If no:
Install WP in the BLOG folder after installing EZAWB in the main domain.

Either way, I would install WP from the cPanel. The reason EZAWB is taking over when you run the install is because the link is incorrect.

Let me know if you want me to do it for you. Wink

That is a good question.  I knew I forgot something....Design. icon_biggrin

I will have to talk to my wife.  But thinking about it probably do the Blog on the main page then EZ as the secondary page.  I also tried full pathing it including /public_HTML/ with the same result.  I will have to look into the control panel thing.  Most of my HTML experience comes from developing local apps for cd's ect so I am still a  little unsure about the hosting / Cpanel thing.  Slowly but surely.  I will get back to you if i need more help.  Thanks for the offer, that is why I love this forum/software.  A+++ tech support. icon_salut

Alright here is my update,

I installed the WordPress Blog Software in the main public_html folder.  I then installed the mega version of EXAffiliate (Decided I wanted more fexibility in categories) in a folder called reviews - Link http://mappyhama.com/reviews/

Everything looks good except it breaks the Ebay Real Estate header image.  Not a huge deal I plan on replacing it for this install, just curious.  Working on the custom template still...... whip

Create and images folder under public_html and upload /images/real-estate.gif

EZAWB Mega is looking for the picture in the images folder in the root of the domain.

Hope this helps.

Good Job Chris,!I have been thinking of doing this for the site my wife manges for me, pearlspartyplace.com, thanks for providing proof of concept. I need to review Jorge video about creating a links page on the ezAWB site to get back and forth to the BLOG. Thanks again for working this out..  icon_cheers icon_salut

Go for it.  I think it is going to be great and boost revenue plus my wife enjoys that type of thing.  i am going to give her a soap box page where she can talk about all of her pet causes etc..  I am actually thinking about putting a blog on everyone of my sites.  There is software that will auto generate blog content plus you could add rss feeds of different content similar to what you are selling.  Shh don't tell anyone.  Secret plans  police

By the way thank for the image help.  Workedl like a charm.  Could you do the same thing for the external css files when error correction takes over? Or is there no way to put them in a location that the web page will find?

Chris,

"Couch" is a scary word scared laughing7

You're welcome. To have the css file do the same, you would have to edit the designX.php file you are using for your website and change the path from:

Code:

<link href="images/css<?=$design_ID?>.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css">

To:

Code:

<link href="http://www.<?=$domain_name?>/images/css<?=$design_ID?>.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css">

Hope that helps Wink

there any reason not to use the new code or similiar version as the default linking command on all my websites especially when I start making templates?  Could this be upgraded into the next version of the software or is there a risk of breaking other things.

My Bad will try again.

On the phone I told you about the site I had that got hits due to being a former site someone had celebrity pics on.  So I get a lot of direct links which the error handling in AZWeb handles and trys to do a search on "nipple slip" or whatever the page was.   But this broke the css linking.  When you told me about the picture fix moving it up a directory I asked if the same thing could be done with the css file.  You gave me the following code

<link href="http://www.<?=$domain_name?>/images/css<?=$design_ID?>.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css">

I put it in the site (boomto.com)and it fixed the css problem see example here (www.boomto.com/konnie_huq/nips.jpg)when the person hits the page the css colors and styles work where before they broke (White page etc..)

So I was just wondering if you were planning on changing to this linking code for the next version or if it can cause other problems and if I should use it for all my customized templates I am making.

Chris crazy

Hope this is clearer

Hi,

I had something happen to one of my domains.  It had only been setup for a week and it exceeded its bandwith (2 gigs)  Where almost none of my other domains have.  Plus it only had 6 hits according to statcounter where I have domains with several hundred that have nowhere near the bandwidth usage.
