Hi,

I have a couple questions about the popular searches.

First what is the source? Where are they being pulled from?

Second I understand the rational for having them to increase popular keywords but doesnt that run against having focused keywords and do you think the search engines (Goggle) may  punish for not having content to match keywords...  Just a thought

Third it seems that most who come through the popular keywords spend less than 30 seconds according to statcounter.   I guess it only really works if there is content on Ebay to match the popular search....

Just me stirring the pot.  Trying to figure out how to optimize my pages

Hi Chris,

The popular searches were designed for generic domains and to hopefully get more clicks to eBay and embed your cookie 

Personally; for good niches and/or domains that I can really optimize, I disable the popular searches.

As far as being punished by SE's since the popular searches change continuously I don't think that would happen.

I realize sometimes there will not be any eBay results. Hopefully there will be AdSense ads and people will not leave without clicking on one of those.

Makes sense. Just trying to feel things out.  Also thinking about uses of the popular searches for non-Ebay sites built using EZAffiliate.  So what is the source of the popular searches or is that a trade secret?
