I find affiliate marketing very effective, and it’s a good way to add complimentary products to the products you already offer.
If you have your own product then you can always incorporate an affiliate product as a back end offer, maybe on the download page of your product. When the customer arrives there they are already in the buying frame of mind, so it’s likely they will consider the product you are recommending especially if it fits with what they have just purchased.
