3 Great Strategies for Finding New Niches for Your Affiliate Websites

By EZadmin | Oct 2, 2008

Niche FindingI often get many questions from EZAWB users who are struggling to find moneymaking or popular niches to use for their affiliate websites.

The first thing I always recommend (especially at the beginning) is to stick with a niche that you are knowledgeable about since that will make it easier for you to create content for your website and stay motivated.

Once you have made a couple of affiliate sites about something you know about and you are making some income from them, then I recommend you start expanding into other niches.

In this post I am going to share three different ways or strategies that I use to find new niches to target in my affiliate websites:

1. Google Trends to Find Money Making Popular Niches:

The first tool I use is called Google Trends which helps me find what people are searching for in the present day, past weeks, months, or the search volume for a specific keyword throughout time.

This helps me identify new niches, or to predict which websites I should be focusing on since their specific niche should be more popular in the coming months, weeks, or days.

There are many different ways you can use Google Trends:

Type in your keyword and that should give you the search volume trend over time.

You can find the hot trends on a per day basis by clicking on “More Hot Trends” which will give you the capability of viewing the present keywords people are looking for or specify a different date to see the keywords that people were looking for on that date.

You can also click on “Trends for Websites” which will give you the daily unique visitors to different websites or a specific website by typing the domain name in the search box.

2. New Google Insights Niche Finding Strategy:

The second tool I use is a fairly new service from Google called Google Insights. This is a very powerful tool that lets you seek data for search terms, locations, time ranges, categories, seasonality, geographic distribution, etc.

I suggest you spend a fair amount of time learning this tool to better utilize it to find new and profitable niches. For example: if you have a website where you want to target only traffic from Australia, you would select locations, then select Australia, and then you could filter by date range or different categories.

Another way you could use Google Insights is if you already have a niche selected and you would want to see what the best country is for you to target with this specific website.

This tool can also help you enter new niche markets by comparing two keywords to see which one is more prevalent therefore helping you make the decision on which niche market to focus on.

Another great way for using Google Insights is to examine the seasonality for a specific niche to see when the interest peaks allowing you to anticipate the demand and maybe start marketing campaigns, e-mail campaigns, or make the decision for when is the best time to enter that niche.

3. Micro Niche Finder Software:

The third tool I use is called Micro Niche Finder which is not a free tool; however, with the time I save compared to how much I paid for it, it is really worth the investment to me.

With Micro Niche Finder I can perform a search for a very generic keyword and then start digging for long tail keywords which will help me rank much better and much faster with the search engines.

Another great tool this software has among other features is that once I have found a niche to market I can perform a search for affiliate programs for that niche.

I hope these tips have been helpful to you for finding new niches for your affiliate websites.

Jorge

    Hi Jorge,

You are very right with the advice about sticking to something you know about ease and to stay motivated.

A lot of people get that wrong, and then give up at the first bump in the road they come to.

Yahoo buzz is pretty decent niche for ideas too.

    Thanks Jorge, good work.
